The Rafael again participates in the national release of short films nominated for the upcoming Academy Awards. Audiences will have the opportunity to see the nominated Live Action and Animated shorts prior to the 89th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 26, 2017 – It‘s likely that several of the films will have already won awards at international film festivals.

Each category will be screened in an individual program, each requiring separate admission.

ANIMATION

Appropriate for ages 8 and up | 87 min.

NOTE: PEAR BRANDY AND CIGARETTES, one of the five nominees, will be the last film in the program. An inventively animated first-person narration about a troubled friendship, there’s violence, language, sex, and drug use in it, and it’s not appropriate for children. We’ll have a Parental Guidance warning prior to this short, so that parents and caregivers can usher children out of the theater if they’d like. Other than this title, the program is acceptable for kids.
