Bay Area filmmaker Sara Dosa will present her fascinating documentary filmed in Central Oregon’s wild mushroom hunting camps and that was awarded Best Bay Area Documentary at the 2014 San Francisco International Film Festival. Every fall, hundreds of Cambodian, Thai and Laotian refugees, as well as Vietnam War veterans, come together for the matsutake mushroom harvest. The film focuses on Roger, a US Special Forces vet, and Kouy, a former Cambodia freedom fighter, in their hunt for this rare and elusive mushroom, that offers a livelihood as well as a process to heal the scars of war.
