This fascinating documentary takes an intimate look at the lives and legacies of three legendary bluesmen: piano player Pinetop Perkins, drummer Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and guitarist Hubert Sumlin, all sidemen for Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf. Historic shows including their final live performances are accompanied by many of the blues and rock stars they inspired, including Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Tim Reynolds, Shemekia Copeland, Robby Krieger, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Perry, Joe Bonamassa and Johnny Winter. The film takes us on the road with three of our last direct links to the origins of the blues, as they share incredible personal stories that are part of music history, but also our country’s history. Narrator: Marc Maron. Director: Scott Rosenbaum (US 2016) 80 min.
