This screening of SPOTLIGHT is a benefit for Sunny Hills Services, a local non-profit that helps vulnerable children, youth and their families use their strengths to develop healthy relationships and fulfilling lives. Blye Pagon Faust, one of Spotlight’s producers, is a Board Member of Sunny Hills Services, and this film shares the stories of youth similar to those SHS serves.
After the screening, Blye will talk about the seven long years it took to bring this powerful story to the big screen and describe the rigors of marketing a major motion picture and preparing for the highly competitive Awards season.
SPOTLIGHT, winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2015, tells the riveting true story behind the Pulitzer Prize-Winning Boston Globe Investigation that would rock that city and cause a crisis in one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions.
In addition to the Best Picture Oscar, Spotlight won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, the 2016 Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature, and many others.
Starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, Brian d’Arcy James, Billy Crudup and Stanley Tucci. Director: Tom McCarthy. Producers: Blye Pagon Faust, Steve Golin, Nicole Rocklin, Michael Sugar.
