Don’t miss celebrated actor David Suchet (TV’s Hercule Poirot) as the formidable Lady Bracknell in Oscar Wilde’s much-loved masterpiece, filmed live at London’s Vaudeville Theatre. Directed by Adrian Noble, Wilde’s superb satire on Victorian manners is one of the funniest plays in the English language. Two bachelor friends, Algernon Moncrieff (Philip Cumbus) and John “Jack” Worthing (Downton Abbey’s Michael Benz) lead double lives to court Gwendolyn Fairfax (Emily Barber) and Cecily Cardew (Imogen Doel), but they must grapple with the consequences of their deceptions, as well as Lady Bracknell. The Guardian wrote that “David Suchet’s Lady Bracknell is majestically funny,” in this production that earned four-star ratings across the board. Program 148 minutes, including two intervals.
