TOSCA

SUNDAY, MARCH 8 • NOON

Giacomo Puccini’s musical thriller is one of the most performed of all operas, and Jonathan Kent’s production captures the dangerous political turbulence of Rome in 1800. Chief of Police Scarpia (Gerald Finley), one of the most malevolent villains in opera, ruthlessly pursues enemies of the state, and his dark, demonic music contrasts vividly with the expansive melodies of the idealistic lovers, Tosca (Adrianne Pieczonka) and Cavaradossi (Joseph Calleja), who express their passion in sublime arias. Conducted by Dan Ettinger. Sung in Italian with English subtitles. Anticipated running time is 180 minutes, including two intermissions.
