This wonderfully charming movie about teenage girl power from Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson (Show Me Love and Together) takes place in 1982 Stockholm, where 13-year-old friends Bobo (Mira Barkhammar) and Klara (Mira Grosin) decide to form a punk band, despite everyone telling them that punk is dead (as well as the minor detail that they can’t play any instruments). They enlist Hedvig (Liv LeMoyne), a demure and religious classical guitarist, cut her hair, and a punk band is born. Based on a graphic novel by Moodysson’s wife Coco, this sweet and funny underdog tale captures the rollercoaster of early adolescence with an infectious spirit. In Swedish with English subtitles.
