A Dane in the grip of a mid-life crisis, Martin has donned an assortment of animal skins and sets camp in the fjords of Norway, intending to live off the land. Good thing there’s a convenience store nearby. His hapless experiment in hunting and gathering is interrupted by the arrival of Musa, a wounded fugitive from a gang of drug smugglers. As an unlikely friendship begins to form, Martin and Musa are unaware that the dangerous smugglers are on their tail. Add to that Martin’s perplexed wife and kids, and the local police captain, who, on the whole, would rather be fishing. While there are brief moments of violence, this spectacularly scenic comedy has plenty of laughs, including a visit to a Viking reenactment village, where Martin and his duds fit right in. And the beauty of those Norwegian landscapes is hard to beat! In Danish and Norwegian with English subtitles. With Rasmus Bjerg, Zaki Youssef, Bjørn Sundquist. Writers: Thomas Daneskov, Morten Pape. Director: Thomas Daneskov. (Denmark 2021)
