Yuh-Jung Youn just won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Minari. She and her co-star Steven Yeun are the first Korean actors ever nominated for an Academy Award. In honor of her historic Oscar nomination, we are excited to present a four-film retrospective of her work.

Beloved by audiences around the world, Yuh-Jung Youn is a legendary actress who has starred in many of Korea’s most revered films and television series in a career that spans five decades. After becoming a star in her first film, Woman of Firein 1971, she has taken on memorable roles in over eighty television series and close to thirty feature films and has won countless awards. Recently, her reality television show, “Youn’s Kitchen” became one of Korea’s highest rated shows and revitalized her popularity amongst a new generation of Korean audiences. She received international acclaim for her appearances at the Cannes Film Festival for The Housemaid and The Taste of Money, and she starred in her first American, English-language series as “Min- jung” in the Netflix drama “Sense8,” by the Wachowskis. In 2020, she debuted in her first American feature film, Minari. Her performance has been acclaimed by the National Board of Review, the New York Film Critics Online, San Francisco Bay Area Film Critics Circle, Alliance of Women in Film Journalists and Black Film Critics Circle.
