DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: IF I COULD STAY / SI PUDIERA QUEDARME
Directed by Theo Rigby & Florencia Krochik
USA, 2024 | 76 min | Spanish & English
An intimate and moving portrait of two courageous mothers, Jeanette Vizguerra and Ingrid Encalada Latorre, who risk everything to stay with their families. Faced with the threat of deportation, they make the choice to seek sanctuary in local churches, surrendering their freedom in order to protect their children. Over five years, the film follows their lives as they transform isolation into activism and organize faith communities to stand in solidarity.
This screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion with Gilbert Mejia (Sin País), Omar Carrera (Canal Alliance) and director, Theo Rigby and Rev. Lynn Oldham Robinett (Marin Interfaith Council). Discussion will be moderated by Mabel Valdiviezo (Prodigal Daughter).
