SCREENING FOLLOWED BY A CONVERSATION WITH CASTING DIRECTOR JENNIFER VENDITTI, COSTUME DESIGNER MIYAKO BELLIZZI, COMPOSER DANIEL LOPATIN & SOUND EDITOR SKIP LIEVSAY
Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness. It’s 1952 in New York City, and Marty is stuck selling shoes in his uncle’s cramped Lower East Side shop—a life he never chose and refuses to settle for. His unlikely escape hatch is table tennis. In a post-war America that sees the sport as a joke, Marty is determined to turn it into his shot at reinvention.
What stands in his way is everything: an overbearing mother, a pregnant girlfriend, no money, and a world that expects him to stay in his lane. But for Marty, every dismissal, every setback, and every closed door becomes fuel. With Timothée Chalamet in the title role, Marty Supreme is a bold, kinetic portrait of a relentless New York dreamer intent on proving that ambition can come from anywhere—and that glory belongs to those who refuse to quit.
Director Josh Safdie (US 2025) 150 min.
