DANNY SAYS

SATURDAY. SEPTEMBER 24

Join us for a special advance screening of this new documentary directed by Brendan Toller chronicling the iconic life and times of Danny Fields, the legend who since 1966 played a pivotal part in shaping rock and roll and the counterculture of the late 20th century. The film, named after a Ramones song, features candid commentary from heavyweights such as Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Judy Collins, Tommy Ramone, Jac Holzman, Lenny Kaye, Wayne Kramer, John Cameron Mitchell, Jann Wenner, and Fields himself.

Danny Says follows Fields, a behind-the-scenes-connector, from his early career supporting musical talent through rock journalism, to working for the Doors, Cream, Lou Reed, Nico, Judy Collins; managing groundbreaking artists like the Stooges, MC5 and the Ramones; and hanging out in Andy Warhol‘s Factory. The film follows Danny from Phi Beta Kappa whiz, to Harvard Law dropout, to Warhol confidant, to Director of Publicity at Elektra Records, to punk pioneer and beyond – it is a story of marginal turning mainstream, avant garde turning prophetic, as Fields looks to the next generation. Writer/Director: Brendan Toller (US 2015) 104 min.

Nationally streamed Q&A with director Brendan Toller to follow the screening.
