FOR NO GOOD REASON

OPENS FRIDAY, MAY 2

“I learnt to draw…to try to change the world.” Made over the course of 15 years, this film explores the connection between life and art through the eyes of seminal British artist Ralph Steadman. Beginning his career as a cartoonist satirizing the British social and political scene in the 1960s and 70s, Steadman became world famous for his association with Hunter S. Thompson, particularly his anarchic illustrations for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Hosted by Johnny Depp, this energetic documentary includes interviews with Thompson, as well as Richard E. Grant, Terry Gilliam, William S. Burroughs, Jann Wenner and Hal Wilner. Insightful, humorous and visually stunning, this portrait of the “last of the original Gonzo visionaries” is a study in honesty, friendship and the ambition that drives an artist. Producer: Lucy Paul. Director: Charlie Paul. (UK 2013) 89 min.
