THIS PROGRAM IS SOLD OUT!
Filmmakers and food lovers Jen Rustemeyer and Grant Baldwin dive into the issue of food waste from farm through retail—and into their own fridge. After learning about the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away. But as Grant’s addictive personality turns full tilt towards food rescue, the “thrill of the find” has unexpected consequences. Just Eat It brings farmers, retailers, activists, industry experts, and consumers to the table to explore our systemic obsession with expiration dates, perfect produce, and portion sizes, and reveal the core of this often overlooked issue that is having devastating consequences around the globe. (US 2014) 75 minutes
The screening will be followed by a discussion with confirmed panelists:
Marv Zauderer, Founder, ExtraFood.org
Miguel Villarreal, Director of Food and Nutritional Services, Novato Unified School District
Sally Matsuishi, Founder, Next Generation Scholars
Middle school student representatives of Children for Change
A portion of the program proceeds will support the work of Children for Change and ExtraFood.org.
