Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Byrne and Jesse Eisenberg star in this haunting drama from last year’s Cannes Competition, the English-language debut of award-winning Norwegian director Joachim Trier. Huppert plays a fearless war photographer, who tragically (and ironically) died in a car accident a few miles from her suburban New York home. Three years later, a retrospective of her photography is in the works, and the wounds are still fresh for husband Gene (Byrne) and their sons, Jonah (Eisenberg) and troubled teenager Conrad (Devin Druid). While they explore their memories about the woman they loved, important revelations emerge, in this stunningly intimate portrait of parents and children and the things that tear them apart and bring them together. Rated R. With Amy Ryan, David Strathairn, Rachel Brosnahan. Writers: Eskil Vogt, Joachim Trier. Director: Joachim Trier. (US 2015) 109 min.
