Based on Andy Weir’s bestselling 2011 novel, Ridley Scott’s 2015 space drama The Martian follows the struggles of astronaut/botanist Mark Watney (Matt Damon) after he is presumed dead and left alone on Mars, and the efforts of his crew and NASA to help him survive until he can be brought back to Earth. The film was praised for its realism and scientific accuracy. Director: Ridley Scott (US 2015) 144 min.

There will be short pre-show talk and post-film conversation with planetary scientist Dr. Pascal Lee, chairman of the Mars Institute, senior planetary scientist with the SETI Institute, and director of the Haughton-Mars Project, which conducts research vital for planning future expeditions to the Moon and Mars.
