Join us for two nostalgic nights of classic romantic comedies selected by acclaimed filmmaker CELINE SONG, leading up to a special screening of her new film, MATERIALISTS.

“WORKING GIRL and YOU’VE GOT MAIL are two wonderful love stories where work life and love life entangle and break each other open, bringing the character at the center of both lives into stark confrontation with themselves, what they value, and how they want to live. I love these films because they face head on the difficulties and messiness of love in the modern world, while still being completely open-hearted and romantic.

I was enormously inspired by these movies when making my new film MATERIALISTS. I hope you love them as much as I do. Enjoy.”

– Celine Song

Nominated for 6 Academy Awards; director Mike Nichols’ witty, romantic look at life in the corporate jungle stars Melanie Griffith as Tess McGill, an ambitious secretary with a unique approach for climbing the ladder to success. When her classy, but villainous boss (Sigourneey Weaver) Breaks a leg skiing, Tess simply takes over her office, her apartment, even her wardrobe. She then creates a deal with a handsome investment banker (Harrison Ford) that will either take her straight to the top – or finish her off for good.

They remain unaware that the person with whom they’re smitten is the same person they snub daily in the business world.

Director Nora Ephron (US 1998) 119 min.

Celine Song’s Materialists is a sharp, modern romance that follows Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a high-end matchmaker in New York City, torn between a wealthy, seemingly perfect match and her emotionally complicated, financially struggling ex. Inspired by Song’s own time working as a professional matchmaker, the film explores how modern dating reduces people to a set of assets and checklists while still allowing for the mystery and hope of true love.

With her follow-up to the Oscar-nominated Past Lives, Song continues to examine the contradictions of intimacy, self-worth, and romantic aspiration in a world where love has become just another transaction.

Director Celine Song (US 2025) 109 min.
