Liz Canning, a Marin based filmmaker, cycled everywhere until she had twins in 2008. Hauling babies via car was not only unsustainable but took the adventure out of life, and Liz felt trapped. She Googled “family bike” and uncovered a global movement of people replacing cars with cargo bikes. Setting out to learn more, she chronicled the early inventors, the people making the bold lifestyle changes and her own journey–the film Motherload was born. The story however, does not shy from showing pushback from those asked to share the roadways—cars and their drivers. Fortunately, the riders continue on the path of both empowerment and passion. Director: Liz Canning. (US 2019) 86 min.
