The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s season continues with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford and filmed live on stage at the Garrick Theatre in London. Branagh and team create a new vision of the passionate, heartbreaking tale of young lovers caught in the conflict between two feuding families. For the roles of the lovers, Branagh has reunited the stars of his recent film Cinderella, Lily James and Richard Madden. Also starring Derek Jacobi as Mercutio, Meera Syal as the Nurse and Marisa Berenson as Lady Capulet, this production has been praised for its “pulsating energy” (The Guardian) and described as “bustling, energetic and exhuberant” (Time Out). 160 minutes including intermission.
