SCOTTY AND THE SECRET HISTORY OF HOLLYWOOD
OPENS FRIDAY, AUGUST 10
This fascinating documentary tells the deliciously scandalous story of Scotty Bowers, an ex-Marine who landed in Hollywood after World War II and became confidant and lover to many of Hollywood’s greatest male (and female) stars. In the 1940s and 50s, Scotty ran a gas station, in the shadow of the studios, where he would connect his friends with actors and actresses who had to hide their true sexual identities. Scotty first shared his secrets in the 2012 publication of his memoir Full Service, and here he tells his story to the camera, presenting eye-opening takes on Golden Age icons including Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner and many more. Producer/Director: Matt Tyrnauer. (US 2017) 97 min.
