It’s been six years since the Somm documentary shined a light on the secret, underground world of sommeliers. Now the third installment of the series centers on one of the most significant events in the history of wine, the 1976 Judgment of Paris.  Narrated by Madeline Puckette, creator of Wine Folly, Somm 3 tells the story of how a California Chardonnay and Cabernet wines outscored France in a blind tasting that wine expert Steve Spurrier organized, detailing the ensuing fallout for the French participants, and more importantly, the fateful impact it had on California wine.  We also watch as Spurrier, along with sommeliers Jancis Robinson and Fred Dame, gather in Paris to sample the rarest bottles of their careers, while sommelier Dustin Wilson holds a blind taste test for Pinot Noirs and Burgundies in New York.  Director: Jason Wise. (US 2018) 78 min.
