In Sally Potter’s dark comedy, Kristin Scott Thomas stars as Janet, who is hosting an intimate gathering of friends in her London home to celebrate her political ascension. An extraordinary cast inhabits Janet’s guests: Patricia Clarkson, Bruno Ganz, Cherry Jones, Emily Mortimer and Cillian Murphy. Her husband Bill (Timothy Spall) appears preoccupied all evening, and his ultimate announcement provokes a series of revelations that gradually unravel the sophisticated soirée, and a night that began with champagne could very well end in gunplay.
